The client for this job had a desire to open a steak house that was fun, sophisticated and hip but wasn’t your everyday gathering spot for corporate and political America so we came up with this wonderful logo. The challenge here was to create something that still reflected his higher menu prices but was more inviting to a younger crowd than a traditional steak house would be.
The EVR Light App was a fun project in which I designed not only the logo but the complete UI. The client was seeking a clean modern design that represented the sophisticated yet simple design of their product.
FOREVER FREE is a brand I started when I was 13 year old graffiti artist roaming the streets of Oxnard, CA and eventually turned into a clothing line. Although I am no longer illegally painting the city or producing fashion for it, I still use the brand name for fun personal projects.
This is a poster I made for a sales event at my former bicycle shop. The goal was create a poster to plaster all over town that best represented the funky fun feel of our shop located in the heart of the Funk Zone in Santa Barabra, CA.
Working with print media is one of my most absolute favorite things to do in the world. In this example I created a faux article using InDesign for a Santa Barbara magazine. I wanted to create a spread that really captured both the natural beauty of Santa Barbara and it’s sophistication so I hiked to the most beautiful sunset spot I could find for the photo and then tied it with this beautiful serif font. The challenge with this piece was achieving legibility of the light text on the dark background but I was able to find a perfect balance with the background and the spacing of the font to make everything perfectly easy to read.
As a designer, my dream is to one day have the opportunity to design a Nike sneaker. Although fashion is not as high on my priority list as it once was, I still spend the time to create whatever ideas pop into my head.
This an album cover I made for a dear friend of mine and rap musician Chacco Burr. The lyrics in his songs often shine a light on how Latinos and Native Americans are mistreated here in America so with this album cover we wanted to achieve an aesthetic that shows the passion he has to change this racist notion in America.
In this project, I was tasked to create a product from a character trait. I chose to pair class with a cigar and tied them together with this hand crafted art deco design, rose and natural candle light. The funnest thing about this project was sourcing my resources. The shot was made of of things I had laying around the house and nothing more. The backdrop was made by placing a black sheet over a chair and then a candle was placed behind the box for light.
These are three pieces of personal artwork from my White Collection. The goal of this collection was to tie my spirit of divinity into my unorthodox upbringing. From the left “Carry” was a piece I created that best represents my time as a youth in Oxnard, me and my friends were often getting in trouble yet I was always willing to sacrifice myself for the blame. The middle piece, “Touch” represents the rough relationship I had with my mother as we were always arguing and drifting farther and farther apart when I was a youth. The piece to the Right “Comfort” represent my love and sanctuary I have always found in animals.
This was one of my absolute favorite projects, the client created a media company that covered all of the music festivals across the country and needed me to create a logo and cards for him. He loved the idea of an Illuminati inspired design so I creating him this logo that really provokes mystery as well as these super fun unorthodox cards to compliment his logo.
I was trained in studio art by a group of amazing professors in my earlier years and I believe having such a traditional foundation in art really pushes me to the next level as a designer.
When I was 18, my dream was to start my own clothing company. With no real professional training, I took it upon myself to learn everything I could about fashion. I even took a job at a screen printing shop to gain an understanding about everything that goes into making my dreams a reality.
Business cards I made for my coral shop. For more on Odd Animal please checkout “Case Studies”
If I could design menus and restaurant logos all day, I would! Food is another passion of mine. In this project the goal was to create a fun logo and matching menu for the client who also had a love for Vespa scooters.
This piece was used by the client as an add in his local newspaper and really shows the diversity and range of my design skills.
