"What is all this stuff about the Web?"
Mary Donohue, a Financial Post small business editor, wrote an editorial called "Investment in a Web Site can show quick returns." (Financial Post, June 27, 2000).
She reported that one of her clients, a Dentist, estimates that his Web Site will be paid for in its first five months on the net. This is not surprising. Consider the following.
Statistical data indicates that your patients represent a cross section of your community:
- Over 50% of all your patients access the web
- Their primary use is to access information
- The cross section of users spans all age groups
- The cross section of users spans all income groups
- Health information is high on their search list
- Canadians are becoming more responsible for health
Demographics are changing:
- On average, one in five families moves every year
- Community density is rising
- 5% of Dentists are graduates starting new practices
- 4% of established Dentists retire every year
Methods of communicating are changing even faster:
- Yellow Pages now list web site addresses
- Internet sections in Yellow Pages are becoming common
What do these TRENDS mean for my practice?
